Literacy Plus
“Literacy Plus is a comprehensive program designed to empower individuals through a structured journey towards holistic development.
Momentum Development Foundation (MDF) is an inclusive, faith-aligned educational initiative designed The program Literacy Plus to serve out-of-school children, disadvantaged girls, street orphans, and underserved adults across Pakistan. Rooted in the principles of literacy, character development, and vocational empowerment, the program integrates Quranic education, foundational literacy and numeracy, and market-driven skill development. This holistic learning model cultivates not just knowledge, but also moral strength, self-reliance, and long-term societal contribution.
Pakistan is currently facing a profound literacy and education crisis. More than 26 million children between the ages of 5 and 16 are out of school, while an estimated 60 million adults lack the ability to read and write. Marginalized groups—particularly street children, orphans, and disadvantaged girls—remain excluded from formal education systems due to poverty, social stigma, and limited access. Additionally, the absence of values-based learning and practical skill development contributes to low human capital and rising social challenges, including unemployment, crime, and inequality.
The Literacy Plus program responds to these urgent needs by delivering a holistic educational experience that integrates foundational literacy, Islamic teachings, moral development (Tarbia and Tazkia), and market-relevant vocational skills. This comprehensive approach not only improves individual learning outcomes but also contributes to stronger, more self-reliant communities, aligned with national development goals and global education priorities.
