Quranic Literacy

Overview

The Scope of Quran Literacy Momentum Foundation Intends to focus interiliac, include Teaching of Nazra Quran, Tajweed, Fahm-e-Quran, as well as Fahm-e-Deen. The Implementation strategy may be opening of Quran literacy centers where ever needed (as per research-based need).

The beneficiaries may be women & girls. The Minimum numbers of learners per center may be 15 – 20. The literacy center Teachers will be qualified scholar (Aalama) who will be given short trainings Teaching methodology & Assessment of learning.

Momentum Development Foundation will develop the curriculum as per scop mentioned above as well as teaching- learning & instructional material & and provide/ supply to each center. The duration of the course will be one year. The class times may be 2 – 3 hours as per convenience of the learners. Each center will be regularly monitored. Based on the final assessment the learners will be awarded certificates.

Why it Matters​

Knowledge & Understanding of the holy Quran is the top priority need of the mankind leading the life as per teachings of the Quran & Ahadis is only a means for success in this world & world hereafter. Furthermore, the understanding acting upon the teaching of Islamis significant important & Vital for real success, Peace & Prosperity. Unfortunately, despite the above-mentioned importance millions of men & women in Pakistan cannot even read (Nazra) Quran. Majority of those who can read (Nazra) Quran not mention the acting upon & leading life according to teachings & commandments of Quran & Ahadis. A vast majority women cannot even read / recite or pronounce the Kalama- e- Tayiba. As a result, moral degeneration, crime, corruption in each & every walk of life & lawlessness is rampant. The said awful situation is further deteriorating day by day.

                    In order to ameliorate the said situation, it is imperative that country wide movement / campaign for understanding of Quran & Deen should be started. Opening of Quran literacy centers will be part of the said movement. As such it matters a lot. Mothers literacy may bring out real change in society.

What Momentum is Doing

Momentum Assessed the need of Quran literacy and Fehm-e-Deen for women lives in nearby villages of Islamabad i.e. in five union Councils of  Pinhool , Close to Simly Dam Islamabad. Research indicates that a Vast Majority of women are illiterate in Nazra Quran & Fahm – e- Deen

In the light of finding of the above cited Research Momentum Decided to launch a Pilot Project in said area with an objective to literate women and girls in Quranic literacy Momentum Developed the curriculum & Teaching Learning Material i.e. book titled “DEENYAT” for Fahm-e-Deen Program. Hired the services of female teachers (Aalama) for teaching purpose & gave them orientation. Opened 5 Quranic Literacy centers. Enrolled & taught around 100 women & girls average Learners per center.

Momentum is Consultation & collaboration with National Commission for Health Development (NCHD) to train the teachers & taught the learners under language & basic Maths as well.

The duration of these Quranic centers was 6 months to 2 years. The centers were regularly monitored & learning achievement assessed.
The learner achievement interiliac  Includes :

  • Reading of Nazra Quran with Tajweed
  • Translation of some selected Surah of Quran
  • Fahm-e-Deen
  • Urdu language reading
  • Basic Math
  • Aadab-e-Zindagi

     

Those who Completed the course were awarded Certificates
It was a successful and productive project which needs to be replicated & scaled up.
