Pakistan ranks as the world’s 5th most water-stressed country, with climate change accelerating glacial melt, erratic monsoons, and groundwater depletion. These pressures threaten water security, public health, and ecosystem stability nationwide. MDF leverages its established WASH programming and flood response experience to implement integrated, climate-resilient water solutions. This approach aligns with financing priorities of the Green Climate Fund, International Union for Conservation of Nature nature-based solutions, and European Union biodiversity frameworks, combining water security, ecosystem services, and carbon sequestration.
